Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop - Upcycling for Christmas Gifts!

Hello friends, and welcome back for another Artisan Design Team blog hop - we are the official design team of Stampin' Up!, and we're thrilled to be sharing some fabulous projects ideas with you today!  You're most likely coming from Rachel in France, you're visiting me (Shannon) in Calgary, Canada, and you'll be off to Steffi in Germany next.  Please be sure to hop through all of the designers for some fabulous inspiration!

Recently, I had a stamping first - I finished an entire Project Life collection.  All 100 cards and the entire accessory pack were gone - WHOA, right?!  And that meant I had a beautiful, sturdy box left.  And I can't just throw something like that away!

The divided inside was the source of my inspiration, and it called for a christmas giftable.  But first, that box needed some decoration!

This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper is thinner than regular DSP, which means it was perfectly malleable to wrap the box.  Using a Bone Folder to loosen the fibres of the paper and Fast Fuse adhesive to stick it on, the box was covered and ready for embellishment in no time!  A faux-wrap of burlap ribbon ensures the box opens normally, and the embellishment is adhered only to the top.

And inside?  Check it out.

In what turned out to be one of my most labour-intensive and time-consuming projects EVER, I came up with this collection of cards, tags, a matching gift box, and a pen.  The little divided slots were perfect to package everything up and keep it organized!

I wanted each card and tag to be unique in its own way, but the collection to be cohesive as a whole.  By using the same paper - This Christmas - and a simplified group of embellishments, it was easy to coordinate the cards and tags to match each other, as well as the box they're packaged in.

Gold metallic doilies and gold-accented ribbon add a little bit of bling.

Embossed images add a festive touch.

The sentiments in Oh, What Fun and Peace This Christmas coordinate beautifully together.

The Simply Scored scoring tool can help create some fun embellishments.

And punches add interest with ease.

I usually struggle to make tags, but sticking with the same set of supplies really made things easy.

They'll be perfect on your holiday gifts, won't they?

I'm so happy with how this collection turned out; it was worth every late night I put into it!

Thanks SO much for stopping by, and be sure to click through the hop - next up is Steffi!

Cheers,
Shannon

Clink your Drinks!

Hello friends!  I'm back home after my holiday with my son; we had a wonderful trip through Ontario to visit with my family!

I got home late on Friday, and on Saturday, I opened my craft room door - excited to get back to stamping - and my eyes bulged out of my head.  The room looked like it had been ransacked.  I stood there in disbelief for a moment, then said to my husband "is this seriously how I left my craft room?!"  I guess I have my work cut out for me before I can get back to work this week!  It is a disaster in every sense of the word.  Sigh.

Thankfully I've still got some projects queued up on my blog for you - including this new favourite!  It was my first chance to play with the new Calypso Coral Ombre ink pad, and I thought a beautiful strawberry daiquiri would be the perfect place to use it.

The ombre gives such a nice, subtle layered look to stamped images.  Super cute!  Just make sure to tap your stamp and move it slightly - up and down a millimeter or two- to prevent having a line between the ink tones.  Make sense?  Try it and you'll see!

Simple as it is, I love this combination of Calypso Coral, Smoky Slate, Whisper White, and Daffodil Delight.  It's so crisp and fresh.

Thanks so much for stopping by today - see you again tomorrow night for an Artisan Design Team Blog Hop - I have a really fun project that I've been dying to share with you!  Can't wait!

Cheers,
Shannon
